maternity maxi dresses
The only difference between maternity maxi dresses and regular maxi dresses is the bump. If you looked at the Vogue, maxi is back in fashion with vengeance and expecting mothers have no intention of being left out of the scene.
While men are despairing, realising that women are going to be hiding their legs this summer, pregnant ladies are ecstatic: maternity maxi dresses elongate the figure and make you look regal even if you are five feet nothing. They are versatile, comfortable, and they even keep your legs hidden from mosquitoes.
Maternity maxi dresses have extremely high ‘wow’ factor. They look glamorous even if you are just going to the beach. This summer, all designers came up with at least one maxi dress in their collection: Pucci, Stella McCartney, Missoni, Chloe, Blumarine, Lilly B., Alberta Ferretti, and so many others. Of course, if you are expecting, you cannot expect to go to the store and pick up Missoni’s colourful maternity maxi dress, but you can pick up the photo and share it with your seamstress. After all, you have to accommodate the bump. Your options in fabrics are endless: flowery chiffon, which flows so wonderfully around your legs, soft jersey, which hugs your figure, bump and all, crisp linens, light, luxurious silks.
Great news about the maxi dresses fashion this summer is that they go with flat shoes, so you do not have to wobble on high heels, just to be fashionable, when your belly is shifting your balance dangerously. Maternity maxi dresses look wonderful with strappy ‘gladiator’ sandals, which are all the rage at the moment.
Accessories make all the difference, so treat yourself with some chunky jewellery, which would give your maxi maternity dress that something special. It can be glass necklace in bright colours, or more natural, but much more expensive, amber beads. Think of matching the necklace with a large bracelet, and if you want to go all out, earrings too. Large straw hat, big bag, and you will be ready to conquer the world. Don’t forget to take photos, to show your child when she or he grows up that mom did not go sloppy just because she was carrying the junior.
If you are going to a party, go wild: how about a strapless, sheer chiffon maternity maxi dress, with large, striking string of black beads and patent leather ballerina shoes? Don’t forget to make a slit on one side, so that your leg can make occasional appearance and show to all your friends that you did not let yourself go, and that you are as fit and as beautiful as you ever were. After all, pregnant women are supposed to be glowing.
